“The process of craft making is a silent spiritual dialogue. It is only through the mutual understanding between the craftsmen and the materials that the nature of materials can be revealed, together with the emotions of the craftsmen.”
Graduated from the Department of Architecture at the University of Hong Kong, Lawrence Ting is a registered architect. He has been learning and loving woodworking since he was in secondary school. He believes that wood changes differently depending on the season and time. In 2012, Lawrence established GRAIN DESIGN, a design studio dedicated to wooden furniture and installation art, and incorporated wood into our daily lives. He integrates the uniqueness of the materials into traditional craftsmanship and his works reflect his thoughts and feelings about nature.
Lawrence was selected as one of the artists of the ADC Artspace Programme by the Art Development Council of Hong Kong in 2014 and 2016. His works have also been exhibited in various venues such as Chengdu Creativity & Design Week, Lane Crawford Beijing Store and Kwun Tong Promenade.
