Master Ahung Masikadd, a member of the Puyuma tribe in Taitung City, is renowned for his mastery of rattan weaving and bamboo artistry. Witnessing his grandfather’s skill in crafting objects from mountain-harvested rattan from a young age, he pursued his craft formally after primary school by attending the ‘Taitung County Indigenous Handicrafts Training Institute’. His subsequent career has spanned from apprenticeship to senior technical roles and factory management at various rattan companies, including periods sharing his expertise in Japan and Indonesia. Upon his return to Taiwan, he now leads the Puyuma Cultural Workshop, dedicating his life to revitalize Puyuma Village’s culture.
