Different parts of screw pine offer multi-usages, including daily necessities, painting tools, and even Chinese medicines. Master Wong Kin Hung, a traditional craftsman who was introduced to this material since childhood, has been exploring the possibilities of it and creating folk crafts that make good use of the resource and facilitate our daily lives. Contemporary artisan Jacky Lam is deeply interested in and inspired by the master’s creation. Through Crafts on Peel’s Craft Exchange Program, Master Wong collaborates with Jacky Lam and has created a series of lacquered screw pine utensils. Their works pay tribute to folk crafts and share a reflection on the relationship between humans, crafts and nature.
