Adjoined with a bamboo and rattan woven handle, the copper teapot from Ping Kee Copperware becomes more practical for our everyday use. Retaining the copper teapot’s ideal thermal conductivity, Ting created a mat weave bamboo and rattan insulation for the handle of the teapot.
Mat weave, the most common pattern in bamboo weaving, is made by the intersection of vertical and horizontal bamboo strips. Ting wove softer rattan strips across vertical bamboo strips that are more pliable, creating a perfect handle for Ping Kee Copperware’s teapot.
